The primary mission of the Institute of Soil Mapping and Classification is the accomplishment of the Soil Map of the agricultural soils of the country, the compilation of which used to be the main purpose of its establishment. Following its development and after its affiliation to the National Agricultural Research Foundation, the Institute’s mission is to carry out research focused on the maintenance and improvement of soil quality so that they may fulfill their functions especially those related to the agricultural production and environmental quality. At the same time, as an organization belonging to the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, it provides support addressed either to services and organizations of the agricultural sector or directly to the farmers. The same support is also provided to any body or individuals of the public and private sector.
